BlackBerry was loved for its smartphones that offered the tactile hardware QWERTY keyboard and the infamous BlackBerry Messenger which helped make it a trend setter. The youth took to it, while the US Government preferred it thanks to the state-of-the-art security and enterprise solutions, making it one of the hottest selling mobile phones.
However, times have changed and BlackBerry is no longer the smartphone everyone wants. While the company is still around, it has certainly lost its charm.
Interestingly, when President Obama entered office, he was a ‘BlackBerry Boy’ and was using it until recently when he confirmed that he’s ditched his BlackBerry for a new device. While he hasn’t confirmed exactly which smartphone he is using, but at a recent appearance on a talk show, he spoke about how he was given a new smartphone this year.
Obama had entered office in 2009 as a “high-tech president” with his BlackBerry and at that time, BlackBerry maker RIM (Research In Motion) was making good money. The coming years saw the development of Android and Apple coming in with iPhone, but Obama stuck to his BlackBerry for obvious security reasons.
At the talk show, Obama told Jimmy Fallon, “I was the first president to have a BlackBerry, and so years passed and no one else has BlackBerrys. Then finally this year they said ‘Good news Mr. President, we’re going to give you a state-of-the-art smartphone instead of a BlackBerry.’ I thought, alright, this is cool I’m excited, and I get the thing and they’re like, Mr. President, for security reasons it doesn’t take pictures, you can’t text, the phone doesn’t work, you can’t play your music on it.”

Samsung's bendable smartphones might become real in early 2017

Samsung has been toying with the idea of bendable (or is it foldable? who knows) phones since 2008, when it showed a prototype device sporting a folding OLED display at the Society for Information Display (SID) exhibition.
Now, according to a report by Bloomberg, Samsung might actually be getting ready to launch not one, but two bendable smartphones, as soon as early 2017

The report, which cites the ubiquitous "people familiar with the matter," says both devices will sport OLED screens. The details are somewhat rough, but from what we can gather, one device will be a phone/tablet combo, whose 5-inch screen could be unfolded into an 8-inch screen. The other will be a phone that folds in half, not unlike a cosmetic compact (so, basically a flip phone but with a screen on both sides).
Samsung certainly has the tech to do it. In 2014, the company released a video of a concept phone that folds into a tablet (and, somewhat inexplicably, automatically makes one a hit with the ladies).

And the company has shown functional, thin, small OLED displays that are fully flexible at CES 2013.
According to Bloomberg's sources, Samsung might be preparing the launch of one or even both of these phones for next year's Mobile World Congress in Barcelona, which typically takes place in late February. The phones, currently developed under the codename "Project Valley," will not be a part of Samsung's Galaxy S range.
Bloomberg also reiterated the recent rumor that Samsung might skip a number for its Galaxy Note phone, launching a Note 7 instead of a Note 6.

FINALLY GIVING UP: BlackBerry is reportedly making an Android phone

Hardcore fans might find it hard to accept it, but this doesn’t change the fact that BlackBerry isn’t going to storm back and beat iOS and Android anytime soon. The company failed to win the hearts of consumers, and it’s now considering something rather radical: Making Android phones.

Just like Nokia before it, BlackBerry stuck to its own operating system even after it became clear that iPhone and Android have won the mobile battle. But unlike Nokia, which didn’t even want to try Android, BlackBerry is now willing to give Google’s mobile operating system a try.
Four sources familiar with the company’s plans have told Reuters that BlackBerry is indeed working on such a device. Using Android is apparently “part of BlackBerry’s strategy to pivot to focus on software and device management.”

Moving to Android doesn’t necessarily mean that BlackBerry 10 devices will be killed, and the company told the publication in a statement that it “remains committed to the BlackBerry 10 operating system, which provides security and productivity benefits that are unmatched.”
The rumored BlackBerry Android device would probably be a slider that would pack a touchscreen display and a slide-out physical QWERTY keyboard. The device would be released this autumn, sources said, with BlackBerry having shown it off on stage at Mobile World Congress in early March.
The company apparently wants to convince big customers that its BES12 system can be successfully used to manage and secure smartphones running rival operating system. Sources also said that the BlackBerry Android device would likely include patented features from the BlackBerry 10 operating system, assuming the company moves forward with these plans.
